Ms Jaya Maddulety, Development Officer (DO) with Life

Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) in Hyderabad, is conducting the RACE Unlimited programmes to empower youth and

professionals. RACE is an acronym for ‘Rejoice life, Always be

Cheerful and Energetic.’ Her focus is on youngsters in the age group 16-20 for whom she has conducted over 900

sessions. She believes that their powers need to be harnessed in the right manner. Though they may acquire academic

qualifications, they lack life skills.

The topics on which Mrs Maddulety conducts workshops are: The Power to Change, Positive Thinking-Power Within, Magic of Decision Making, Ganesha in you- Leadership, Bubbles- Fear

Management, Communication Skills and Know Thyself.

The topics can be renamed or altered to suit the convenience of the participants.

Seminar on ‘Innovate to Lead’

Life insurance and financial services agents, advisors,

employees of insurance companies and consultants attended a day-long seminar conducted by Life Underwriters’ Guild Of India (LUGI) at Hyderabad which imparted soft skills and motivational skills and disseminated knowledge on industry related matters.

Among the speakers were Mr P Srinivasan, President, LUGI, who spoke on ‘Why LUGI?,’ Swami Anupamananda who gave the benedictory address, Mr T R Chowdary, Senior

Divisional Manager, LIC, Hyderabad, who spoke on ‘‘You are always needed…Be There,’’ Dr B Kinnera Murthy, Professor, Strategy Management, Administrative Staff College of India, who spoke on ‘‘Are you a Brand?’’ and Mr K V Pradeep, Trainer, who spoke on ‘‘Innovate to Lead.’’

Taking the lead in India, LUGI has been providing a platform for professionals in the insurance industry to learn, unlearn and

excel for the past seven years.

LUGI has been given accreditation and empowered by Asia

Pacific Financial Services Association (APFinSA) for

providing FChFP (Fellow Chartered Financial Practitioner)

Certification in India.

The event attracted 112 participants. It was organised by

Mr D V Suresh, Conference Chairman and Mr Suri Seeta Ram, President, LUGI, Hyderabad.

The media partner for the event was Premium magazine and participants received complimentary copies of the Third

Anniversary Special issue of the magazine (July, 2009.)

Change in Super Star Seminar Series date

The Super Star Seminar Series, inaugurated on June 27, 2009 at Mumbai by the Laazarus Dias Educational Akademy is to have 10 programmes over a period of 10 months. The July seminar featuring Mr Bharath Parekh, LIC Agent, Nagpur and his Development Officer, Mr Mulchandani, will be held on August 1 and 2, Saturday and Sunday instead of July 25 and 26.

The postponement is in view of flood warnings issued by the Mumbai Municipal Corporation for the monsoon during those days.

National Federation School of Insurance Studies (A National

Federation of Insurance Field Workers of India, Chennai Division I initiative) conducted its second major Education Seminar in this calendar year for its members (Development Officers of Life Insurance Corporation of India and their team of agents) of Chennai division I on June 13, 2009. Mr C Gobinath, Vijay TV anchor, and Dr Parveen Sultana, Tamil orator presided. In all about 1,750 participants attended.

Dr Parveen Sultana said the rapport and synergy of the

relationship between the DOs and agents was among the reasons for the success of the LIC. She urged each agent to aim to meet as many as one crore people in their career and become a ‘Real Crorepathi’ agent of LIC. She said if every agent achieved success and pride in their careers probably their children would also emulate them.

Mr Jaganath, Head, Education Delivery, Institute of Finance

Banking and Insurance (IFBI), informed the participants about the tie-up between the IFBI and National Federation School of Insurance Studies (NFSIS) and elaborated on the training IFBI proposed to give agents who came through NFSIS.

The key speaker, Mr Gobinath, said that agents of LIC were

social reformists. He said the participants had reason to be proud as they represented the best organisation in the country. He asked the participants to love their work, update it with latest information, believe themselves, and perform to the best of their strength.

Mr B. Manoharan, Secretary, NFIFWI, South Zone, and Mr N.S. Kumaravel, President, Chennai Division – I, spoke on

the occasion.

Mr S. Anand, General Secretary, National Federation of

Insurance Field Workers of India (NFIFWI), Chennai Division I, thanked the office-bearers, his colleagues and all the participants for their encouragement and assured that NFSIS will carry on with a lot of training programmes for its members and their

team of agents.

ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company organised a seminar for journalists in Chennai recently. This was an initiative to spread awareness about insurance and strengthen bonds with the press. Many journalists from Chennai based

publications participated and cleared

their doubts.

Ms Manjiri Gokhale, National Manager – Marketing, said that this seminar was not meant for press coverage or publicity, but was being conducted with the intention that the media should understand and cover General insurance news. The participating scribes also requested the

company to be accessible to the press and to update their website frequently.

The company distributed a pocket sized glossary of insurance terms among the participants.

ICICI Lombard officials said they intend organising such meets at other locations also. Mr Kanthimathinathan K, National Manager, explained the various terms used in insurance. Mr Eswarnatarajan N, Head – Motor Insurance, spoke about the changes in the industry since inception.

Super Star Seminar series by Laazarus Dias Education Akademy

The Mumbai based Laazarus Dias Education Akademy will be conducting a 10 seminar series on the success secrets of super stars called “Super Star Seminar Series.”
