Anand Jathan is DVP of Best Practices, MDRT

Mr Anand A. Jathan, RFC, CertCII, of Mumbai, is the 2011–2012 Divisional Vice-President (DVP) of Best Practices of the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT). In this role, he will be part of MDRT’s management council, the organisation’s governing body, a media release from Park Ridge, US, said.

Jathan is a 15-year member of the Round Table with one Top of the Table honour and one Court of the Table honour. He has served as chair of the International Member Communications Zone for India and as member of the Leadership Development Committee.

MDRT has three Best Practices divisions. Mr Jathan is responsible for the three committees responsible for creating content for MDRT communications channels and establishing positive impressions of MDRT among all industry stakeholders.

He oversees the Best Practices division that includes India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Oceania, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Tater Stands Tall!

Mr Dinesh Tater, Chief Financial Planning Advisor, Aviva Life Insurance Company, Chennai, is already a two-time TOT (Top of Table, of the Million Dollar Round Table, of MDRT) member and has won the Blue Riband award of his company several times and is the Number 1 Blue Riband Ambassador.

Blue Riband Ambassador since 2004 and member and attendee at MDRT, COT, TOT meets, Mr Tater has pulled off a hatrick by staying the Pan India Blue Riband No.1 FPA.

Rush of candidates for CFA exams

A total of 2,09,945 registrations for FY11 exams, an increase of five per cent on FY10.

India accounted for a year-on year rise of 13 per cent in the number of candidates registered for the CFA examination in June 2011.

The CFA Institute, the global association of investment professionals, reported a 4 per cent increase in the total number of candidates worldwide for exam, with a total of 1,44,900 candidates from 162 countries registering this time. In total, there were 2,09,945 registrations for CFA exams in fiscal 2011 (December 2010 and June 2011), an increase of 5 per cent on fiscal 2010.

The Asia-Pacific region continues to send the largest number of candidates, with 60,416 registered this time (that is, 42 per cent of the total). The Americas saw the registration of 52,131 candidates (36 per cent), and EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) 32,289 candidates (22 per cent). Asia-Pacific also led the worldwide growth, with a 10 per cent increase in registrations in fiscal 2011, which combines December 2010 and June 2011 exam registrations.

MDRT Annual Meet at Atlanta, the US: India Rules!

Over 6,000 delegates from nearly 75 nations, representing over 475 Life insurance companies, attended the 84th annual meeting of the Million Dollar Round Table in Atlanta, US. And with 608 members from India attending, the country accounted for the second largest number of participants.

Membership from India has grown by 20 per cent over last year and of the total membership worldwide of 35,680, the US comes first with 10,204 members, with South Korea, Japan and Hong Kong at third, fourth and fifth positions respectively.

SBI Life Insurance Co. Ltd. continues to occupy No. 1 position (in membership by company) for the third consecutive year with 2,661 membership followed by LIC (1,980), HDFC Life (489), ICICI Prudential Life (336) and Tata AIG Life (207).

At the Atlanta meet too India, with 608 participants, accounted for the second largest contingent after US (2,377), according to a release from Mr Anand A Jathan, MDRT Zone Chair (2010-2011) for India, Pakistan and Bangla Desh and a leading LIC agent based at Mumbai.

Mr Jathan is incidentally a member for the Tast Force for the MDRT Experience Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand, to be held from Februrary 9 to 11, 2012. Online registration has already started for the meeting and the registration fees is USD 350 (for early bird registration up to October 31, 2011 and the regular rate is USD 450 (from November 1, 2011, to February 8, 2012. The next annual meeting will be held at Anaheim, California, USA, from June 10 to 14, 2012, Mr Jathan added.

iFast training in AMFI/NISM

iFAST Financial India is offering, as part of its Investment Planning Course, a two-day training programme to help independent financial advisors obtain the AMFI/ NISM certification.

During the programme advisors will be trained in the basics of mutual fund investments. It will also include an “extremely interactive session, including mock tests, which will help them pass the AMFI/ NISM examinations”. Revising important concepts/terminologies and practising exam-format questions will also form part of it.

Life Underwriters Guild of India (LUGI), the Coimbatore headquartered professional association of Life insurance agents has announced its 9th Annual convention from September 23 to 25, 2011.

To be held at Coimbatore, the convention will be chaired by Mr S Varadarajan, Chairman of the Convention Committee.

LUGI has held its earlier conventions at various places in India including Goa, Hyderabad and Thiruvananthapuram.

Life Insurance Round Table (LIRT),

the Mumbai-based association of insurance professionals, is holding its 24th Annual Convention from September 18 to 20, 2011, in Kolkata under the leadership of Dr Ramakant Mahawar, President of the

organisation for 2010-11.

The qualifying conditions for attending the convention are Rs five lakh first-year commission with bonus during fiscal 2010-11 which includes 40 per cent credit for Personal Accident and Hospitalisation policy commission. Rural agents can qualify if they meet 65 per cent of these qualifying criteria.

The convention will also hold special felicitations for Twinkle Star Agents who have earned Rs 24 lakh a year as First Year Commission, including bonus commission, and for Star Agents who have earned Rs 12 lakh and above. There will be an exclusive Managers Session on September 17.

The participation fee, which includes registration, stay and all meals, is Rs 20,000 if paid on or before April 10 and Rs 25,000 thereafter.

LIRT introduced the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) culture in India and its annual convention is an incredible experience for those agents unable to attend the overseas convention, says the convention brochure.
